Incidentally, after I posted a City Hall fanmade MV I made, I heard a sad news about SG Wannabe’s Chae Dong-Ha‘s death. [READ NEWS HERE]
As you all know, I’m totally clueless about K-pop but I’m somehow familiar with SG Wannabe since they’ve sung some of Kim Sun-Ah‘s drama OST – such as 우습지 in 밤이면 밤마다, and former member Chae Dong-Ha sung 웃어봐 in City Hall OST.
It’s just a bit sad… Aside from the fact that I love 웃어봐, it is a song that can usually cheer me up. But, somehow, this song has a faint trace of sadness on it now…
I’m posting this in memory of Chae Dong-Ha.

Performed by: Cha Dong-Ha

In a sky filled with sunlight,

you came to me illuminated by a dazzling light.

I know this is love.

The one who helped me see the smile in my eyes.

I’m thankful because you are the person beside me.

I’m able to be happy.

When it rains, I’ll be your umbrella. When it’s dark, I’ll be your light.

When you are exhausted, remember our love.

Smile, love is waiting for me

Even if the whole world is against me

Even if I shed tears and my heart aches

As long as I have you, that’s enough

Smile, love is calling me

Even if sadness comes my way

I’m not facing it alone; there are two of us.

I’ll be fine as long as I have you.

I love you

I’ll engrave your image on my eyes.

I’ll protect you and this thankful love,

so that you can be happy.

I love you

Love is addicting, but not toxic. Non toxic.

An endorphin that floods my body,

늘 makes me high
always making me high.

That’s what you are to me, no doubt.

I didn’t know my love.

No, like a fool, I couldn’t see this love that was hidden behind my fear.

What I want and what I seek, what I dream of,

그 모든것 i got dat
all these things, I got that.

너는 내 전부 all dat i got
You’re my everything, all that I got.

“I love you”, I’ll smile at these words.

Even though there are hard times,

I’m able to breathe because of you.

And that makes everything alright.

“I love you”, I just need to remember these words.

Even if I were re-born,

If I could fall in love again,

I promise it would only be with you.

I love you

Happy 2nd Anniversary City Hall!

Has it been two years? Wow! Time really flies!

Actually I was a month late. The real anniversary of City Hall is April 29th.

Nonetheless, I made an MV for City Hall. I’ve always wanted to do this MV using the song 이런 게 사랑인가 봐요, but yeah, busy… I thought of doing it for City Hall‘s second anniversary, but only managed to finish it a month after.

Anyway, here it is:

Lovingly dedicated to all City Hallers! I miss you guys~

Happy 2nd Anniversary!

I started watching 최고의 사랑 – the day after its pilot episode. I was contemplating whether to watch it or not, but I ended up downloading and watching it right after it aired its pilot. 😀

I watched it without subs (I’m not excited, am I?). My Korean is still not good enough to understand everything. In fact I often get lost in their conversations. But I’m happy with the amount of things I can now understand. I think it is more accurate to gauge my comprehension by watching an unsubbed drama than while watching a subbed one.

The opening got me right away – an old MV of  K-pop group 국보소녀. The song 두근두근 is so cute too! It made me smile from ear to ear – I don’t even know why.

Cha Seung-Won is great – as always. But I just don’t like that he is sporting his Jo Guk (City Hall) look in this drama. I think Cha Seung-Won is handsomest in that look, but somewhow  him sporting the Jo Guk look and acting as the crazy Dokko Jin somehow disturbs me a bit when watching it. I have to remind myself every now and then that he is not Jo Guk – he is Dokko Jin! Good thing he is about to change his look in Episode 5! Yey! I don’t have to endure a Dokko-Jin-that-looks-exactly-like-Jo-Guk being sweet and romantic towards Ae Jung. Jo Guk can only be sweet, manly and romantic to Shin Mi Rae (City Hall)

Gong Hyo-Jin is excellent too. This is the first time I’m watching her. Pasta has been on my to-watch list since last year, but I just haven’t gotten a chance to watch it. Although Cha Seung-Won is one of my favorite actors, Gong Hyo-Jin is the reason why I can watch this drama. Aside from the fact that I have a problem watching Kim Sun-Ah‘s previous partners on another drama with another partner, I also have a problem watching other actresses. I have a ‘high’ standard when it comes to actresses (read: high standards = Kim Sun-Ah acting standard). My usual litanies when watching a drama are  either “Kim Sun-Ah can do better than that!” or “It would have been better if it was Kim Sun-Ah on that role!”. Fortunately Gong Hyo-Jin is such a great actress and she plays her role as Ae-Jung very well. Of course, sometimes I think it would have been nice if Kim Sun-Ah’s playing Ae Jung. But I think Gong Hyo-Jin fits the role perfectly! So I don’t mind if it’s not Kim Sun-Ah. 🙂 (I just don’t know if I’ll feel the same way when romance between Ae-Jung and Dokko Jin starts budding :|).

At first I was just planning to continue watching Greatest Love without subs. I don’t want to bother waiting for the subs anymore and I just want to watch it for the sake of watching it. But after watching Episode 1 and browsing Episodes 2 and 3, I think it’s so good that I don’t want to miss out a lot from the dialogues. So from now on I’ll watch it with subs – even if that would mean more waiting.

Greatest Love trailer

Greatest Love seems like a good drama. 1.) It’s Cha Seung Won 2.) It’s Yoon Kye Sang 3.) It’s Cha Seung Won + Yoon Kye Sang in one drama and 4.) It’s written by the Hong sisters.

To watch or not to watch? I have every reason to watch, but I have one big reason not to watch it – Kim Sun Ah, unfortunately, is not part of this drama. I’ve always wished, for many years now, that Yoon Kye Sang and Kim Sun Ah will have a drama together.

Kim Sun Ah visiting Yoon Kye Sang's filming

Now, her having a drama with both Yoon Kye Sang and Cha Seung Won would be heaven for me. It’s just a 39 second trailer but I feel jealous for Kim Sun Ah already.

I know it isn’t fair, but I have a tendency to not like seeing Suna Unnie’s previous partners (read: Hyun Bin and Cha Seung Won at least) acting opposite other actresses. I have endured Secret Garden. I actually wouldn’t have watched it in the first place if it wasn’t written by writer Kim Eun Sook. I don’t know if I’ll have the courage to watch Athena sometime in the future. Now, would I have the heart to watch this drama? It seems really really interesting and I don’t think I’ll let a Cha Seung Won-Yoon Kye Sang drama pass. I guess I’ll just have to endure it, especially when Cha Seung Won gets extra sweet to Gong Hyo Jin (keeping fingers crossed that there won’t be any bed scenes nor sweet kisses please!).

Why why why doesn’t Suna Unnie have a drama now?

Now, who said I’ll won’t watch a new drama until I’ve completed my unfinished dramas? 🙂

30 Day Kdrama Challenge

I got this from tumbler. It was supposed to be a 30 day challenge, but I just want to try answering them now. I haven’t seen a lot of dramas yet, but I think this is kinda fun.

Day 01: Your Favorite Kdrama

My Name Is Kim Sam Soon

Day 02: Your Favorite Male Lead Character

Hmm… Jo Guk (City Hall) is the most romantic guy. Gi-Chan (Bad Couple) is the ideal-almost-perfect guy. Joo-Won (Secret Garden) is the most three-dimensional male character I have encountered so far.

Kim Sam-Soon (My Name Is Kim Sam Soon) nonetheless!

Day 04: Your Favorite Male Third Wheel Character

Probably Kang Shi-Wan (When It’s At Night)

I usually hate all of them… but Yoon-Seul (Secret Garden) is loveable. Wait, is she a third wheel character? Maybe Wang Joo-Hyun (When It’s At Night).

Day 06: Your Favorite Song from a Kdrama OST

Aww, this is really difficult. I’ll name a few… please? Inside My Heart (My Name Is Kim Sam Soon) is just so special. (What’s Up Fox?) is a long-time favorite. (City Hall) is such a beautiful one. (City Hall) is something that I can’t stop listening to. There are still more songs that I truly like… And I love Noh Young-Shim (musical director) so much!

Day 07: Your Favorite Line/s by a Male Lead Character

– Jo Guk (City Hall)

Day 08: Your Favorite Line/s by a Female Lead Character

Uhm… I can’t decide yet. But it’s gonna be either from Sam-Soon (My Name Is Kim Sam Soon) or Mi-Rae (City Hall). I’m still in the process of compiling them here.

Day 09: Your Favorite Line/s by a Male Third Wheel

Hmm… probably when Shi-Wan confessed to Cho-Hee (When It’s At Night), but I haven’t memorized the line.

Day 10: Your Favorite Line/s by a Female Third Wheel

Ah! I love a line from Yoon-Seul, but I have to check it again. I didn’t memorize it either.

A lot? City Hall dialogues perhaps.

Day 12: Your Favorite Story

My Name Is Kim Sam Soon no less. (City Hall would be my favorite love story though)

Day 13: Your Favorite “I Love You”

Day 17: A Kdrama you’ve watched more than once

All of Kim Sun-Ah’s drama, My Name Is Kim Sam Soon being the most watched, followed by City Hall.

Secret Garden

Day 27: A Kdrama loved by many but you don’t seem to like

Boys Over Flowers and Coffee Prince

Day 28: A Kdrama not loved by many but you seem to like

The Women Who Still Wants to Marry (because I’m sure a lot likes City Hall too, right? 🙂 )

Day 29: A Kdrama which made you so happy

City Hall

Day 30: A Kdrama which made you so sad

None? My Name Is Kim Sam Soon made me cry so much, but it doesn’t necessarily made me sad. I was a bit sad with disappointed for When It’s At Night. I usually feel sad whenever I finished watching a good drama. I feel empty.

Bodyguard (2003)

Originally written on my old blog – April 26, 2009

Finally! After some months, I managed to finish watching Bodyguard. It took me some time not because I didn’t enjoy the drama nor because it was not good. In fact it’s the other way around. I enjoyed it and I think this is a good drama. I was just busy subbing When It’s At Night and preparing my new drama City Hall. If not for my unreliable internet service provider, I might not have finished this drama yet (since I don’t have internet for a few days a month ago I managed to get past episode 3 – watched the next episodes one by one – managed to finally finish it when my internet lagged again yesterday and today).

I’m not the usual fangirl who roots for cute hot and handsome actors. I appreciate actresses more.

But this drama is an exception. If I just have one thing to say about this drama, it’s as simple as “Cha Seung-Won is sooo hot and cute!”

These drama doesn’t leave much impression on me unlike the other dramas I saw. Maybe because the main character is a guy and I can’t relate much to his character. But there were some scenes that I was able to appreciate.

So, since I don’t have much to say, let me just list the things I like and I don’t like about this drama.

I like…

Cha Seung-Won! Cha Seung-Won! And Cha Seung-Won! Hahaha! No, seriously… I like him. This is the first time I saw Cha Seung-Won. He’s the only reason why I put out this drama out of the old drama closet. It’s not the type of drama that I would pick up out of interest or curiosity. But since Cha Seung-Won will be collaborating with my Kim Sun-Ah Unnie really soon, I must get to know him. And I have no regrets. I enjoyed his screen presence as he plays Hong Kyung-Tak. I clearly see his talents. Plus I really like his nuances and quirks that would definitely match Kim Sun-Ah Unnie’s own comedic timing. They would definitely be a perfect comedy couple.

I like Park Yu-Jin! The lady bodyguard! I’ve always loved strong women characters, so how can I let Park Yu-Jin pass? Too bad her own background story was not tackled that much on the drama. I might have loved this drama more if her character was revealed more. But nonetheless I like her.

And I sooo love the Hong family! They seem like a real family to me. I love Kyung-Tak’s mom and dad. And I love the brother-sister relationship of Kyung-Tak and Kyung-Mi. For me, it’s the drama’s strongest point.

I love Song Il-Gook! I hate him to death on this drama! It only means he’s a good actor.

AND THE FOOD!!! I don’t know but everytime I watch Bodyguard, I crave for Korean foods! Maybe because they are always eating… and they were always so into eating!

I hate…

I hate Na-Young. I don’t know. But she annoys me. It may be the weak character that annoys me or it can be Lim Eung-Kyung’s acting (or the lack of it).

What annoys me the most?

Lack of sweet moments between Kyung-Tak and Yu-Jin. They could have kissed – even just once. But they didn’t. Maybe the director and the writer don’t want this drama to appear like the usual romantic-comedy… but still…  so annoying. They look so good together.

Overall, it’s enjoyable. Plot is good as well. But a re-watch? Hmm… I don’t think so. Let’s just leave it as it is.
